The Yemeni Coast Guard on Sunday rescued 26 migrants of African nationalities after their boat sank in international waters off the coast of Mocha to the west of Yemen. The state-run Saba News Agency reported that 26 African migrants were rescued out of a total of 75 people, including women, who were on a boat in international waters off the coast of Mocha. The agency indicated that 49 people are still missing, and the search for them is continuing. African migrants keep traveling to Yemen, using it as a stepping stone to Gulf countries, where they can find better job opportunities.
The demining Masam Project announced Sunday the clearance of 637 mines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices in several Yemeni provinces during the past week.In a statement released today, the project indicated that its demining teams removed two anti-personnel mines, 117 anti-tank mines, and 518 ordnance between November 4 and 10.The statement added 1,472 mines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices have been removed since the beginning of November. The project cleared 421,469 mines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices since its launch in June 2018. The warring sides in Yemen have planted thousands of landmines since the war in Yemen started in 2015.
A government report revealed on Saturday the displacement of 410 Yemeni families during the past month of October.The Executive Unit for Internally Displaced Persons Camp Management, a governmental body, stated in its monthly report that they monitored the displacement of 410 families, comprising 2,397 individuals who were displaced between October 1 and 31. According to the report of the government body, 329 families, constituting 2,010 individuals, were displaced for the first time, while 81 families, representing 387 individuals, experienced their second displacement during this period. The report indicated that most displaced families were from Al-Hudaydah, Marib, and Taiz. The Executive Unit recorded, from January 1 to October 31, 2023, the displacement of 6,460 families (35,575 individuals) from several provinces.
