86 Ships Targeted by Missiles From Yemen Since November

 

Yemen's Houthi group said that they have attacked 86 vessels in the Red Sea, Arabian Sea, and Indian Ocean linked to Israel, the US and the UK since November last year. In a televised speech on Thursday,  Houthi leader Abdulmalik al-Houthi said the Yemeni Navy stated that it targeted nine ships this week. Al-Houthi said that they used 37 ballistic missiles and drones in the 10 operations conducted throughout the week. He vowed that the Yemeni operations will continue if attacks on the Gaza Strip persist. Since November last year, Houthis have repeatedly launched drone and missile attacks on ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, saying that these operations are in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza, where Israel has killed over 32000 people since October last year.

 

The Indian Navy swiftly responded to a pirate attack on an Iranian fishing vessel near the Gulf of Aden, a statement issued on Friday said. After hours of intense measures, the crew of 23 Pakistani nationals have been rescued by the Indian Navy as the pirates onboard the Iranian fishing vessel 'AI Kambar 786' surrendered. The Navy received inputs about a potential pirate incident onboard the Iranian fishing vessel 'Al Kambar 786' on the evening of March 28.

 

The United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, concluded a visit to Moscow on Friday and engaged in discussions with senior Russian officials. Grundberg met with Sergey Vershinin, the deputy minister of foreign affairs of the Russian Federation, and the special presidential representative for the Middle East, Mikhail Bogdanov. The Special Envoy briefed on recent efforts to support the Yemeni rivals in reaching an agreement on a roadmap to operationalize their commitments to a ceasefire, measures to improve living conditions in Yemen, and the resumption of an inclusive political process under UN auspices. The discussions explored recent developments in Yemen and the region and their impact on the progress of peace efforts.

 

 Israel carried out its deadliest strikes in months on northern Syria's Aleppo province early on Friday and said it killed a senior Hezbollah commander in Lebanon. Israel has stepped up airstrikes in Syria against both the Lebanese Hezbollah and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) since Hamas's attack on Israel on October 7. Recently, its pilots have resumed regular practice of "deep" raids into Lebanon. The Israeli military said on Friday it had killed Ali Abed Akhsan Naim, deputy commander of Hezbollah's rocket and missiles unit, in an airstrike in the area of Bazouriye in Lebanon.
