Coalition Destroys Ballistic-Missile Launch Platform in Sana’a, Storage Site Holding 20 Missiles in Saada
The Saudi-led Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen said it destroyed a ballistic-missile launch platform in the capital, Sana’a, and a missile storage facility inside a mountainous site in Saada containing 20 ballistic missiles.
Coalition spokesman Maj. Gen. Turki al-Malki announced the strikes early Tuesday, according to the Saudi Press Agency. The statement did not specify the exact location of the Sana’a launch platform or provide further details about the types of ballistic missiles stored in Saada.
Footage released in connection with the Saada operation showed the strike on the mountainous site. No corresponding imagery of the destroyed launch platform in Sana’a was included in the announcement.
Part of the “Dawn of Yemen” Air Campaign
The strikes come amid a major expansion of Coalition air operations accompanying Operation “Dawn of Yemen,”launched as Yemeni government forces advance on several fronts.
On October 5, al-Malki said 100 fighter aircraft had participated in the operation and that Coalition aircraft had destroyed 324 high-value targets at the outset of the campaign. He also said the Coalition was providing around-the-clock air support to Yemeni government forces and maintaining aerial protection over the Bab al-Mandab Strait while continuing to engage moving targets.
