Four Houthis Ambushed in Yemen’s Al-Bayda

 

Local sources said four Houthi members were ambushed near a Houthi checkpoint in Al-Bayda province in central Yemen on Sunday. The sources added that the Houthi leader, Abdul Salam Jahlan, and one of his companions were killed. The two others were injured. No group claimed responsibility for the ambush.

 

The Yemeni government has demanded the transfer of the UN headquarters in Hodeida to another safe place. Minister of Information Muammar Al-Eryani, called on the United Nations to move the headquarters of its mission to the liberated areas, or a neutral area, so that it becomes free from the Ansar Allah (Houthi) pressure and blackmail. Houthis control Hodeida City and many other districts of the province.

 

On Sunday, David Gressly, the United Nations Resident Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen, said that the UN is planning to hold a summit in New York City to support the humanitarian needs in Yemen, according to the government-run Saba News Agency, during his meeting with the minister of planning and international cooperation, Waed Bathaeeb, the two officials international efforts to support plans for the development and economic process in Yemen.

 

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian announced that a tripartite economic conference with Saudi Arabia and Turkey will be held during the next short period. According to international news agencies, Abdollahian said Turkey welcomed the return of diplomatic relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia. Tehran officially reopened its embassy in Riyadh in June, followed by its consulate in Jeddah and its representative office to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. This thaw in relations comes after years of diplomatic dispute between Riyadh and Tehran.

 

Egypt is eyeing boosting economic and trade ties with Yemen and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has said Egyptian Minister of Trade Ahmed Samir. Late last week, Samir met his Yemeni counterpart Mohammed Al-Ashwal, and the Emirati Minister of Economy, Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, to discuss cooperation opportunities. The meeting was held during the 112th Ministerial Session of the Economic and Social Council (ESC) of the Arab League.
