Houthis Target Emergency Forces Camps in Eastern Marib After Security Operations

    Houthi forces launched a drone-and-missile attack on several Yemeni military positions, including camps belonging to the First Emergency Forces Division in the Ruwaik area of eastern Marib, causing casualties and material damage, according to Yemeni military and local sources.

The Emergency Forces later confirmed the attack in an official statement, saying the strike targeted several military camps and units, resulting in human and material losses.

According to the statement, the attack followed a series of recent security and military operations carried out under directives from the Minister of Defense. The operations focused on securing key areas, protecting international roads, dismantling smuggling and highway robbery networks, and pursuing suspects involved in assassinations, organized crime, and other security-related offenses.

The statement added that the operations involved the First Emergency Forces Division, the First Military Region, Nation’s Shield Forces, and other military and security units as part of a coordinated effort to strengthen security, safeguard civilian movement, and dismantle criminal and militant cells operating in eastern Yemen.

The timing of the strike suggests the Houthis may have sought to retaliate against forces that have recently intensified operations against smuggling routes and armed networks in the eastern desert corridor linking Marib, Hadramawt, and the Saudi border.
