Local Armed Groups Clash in Yemen's Shabwa

Local sources said that armed clashes broke out on Sunday evening between the Rescue Forces affiliated with Shabwa Governor Awad bin Alwazir and the UAE-backed Giants Brigades Forces in the city of Attaq, the capital of Shabwa province. The confrontations happened after the Rescue Forces detained soldiers belonging to the Giants Brigades, accusing them of blackmailing and stealing the owner of a mobile shop, according to the sources.

A UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) announced on Sunday the launch of a campaign against Al-Qaeda in Yemen's south. The campaign resulted in the arrest of a senior Al-Qaeda figure, Abu Al-Qaqaa, in Mudiyah district, the STC's Security Belt Forces said. This campaign aims to "track down the terrorist elements in the valleys, mountains and some remote areas in Mudiyah district of Abyan," according to the Security Belt Forces. A suspected Al-Qaeda attack at an entrance to Mudiyah district on Saturday killed at least two fighters loyal to the STC, and five others were injured.

The Ansar Allah (Houthi) group has decided on a new price increase for telecommunications services in Yemen. The telecommunications company, "YOU", said in a statement that authorities in Sanaa imposed a price rise of 1% on all types of communication and internet services within the company.According to the statement, implementing the new price began on Sunday, August 6.

The Houthi group has renewed its accusation of the United States of America and the United Kingdom of obstructing the group's negotiations with Saudi Arabia. During a military parade in Sirwah of Marib today, Mohammed Al-Atifi, the Houthi-appointed defense minister, said his group has the tactical capabilities to impose strong and influential military engagement rules. He stressed the group's rejection of any "evasion or delay" by the Saudi-Emirati coalition in implementing the group's demands.
