Human Rights Watch Accuses Yemeni Conflict Parties of Hindering Aid and Cholera Mitigation Efforts

Human Rights Watch has accused the parties involved in the Yemeni conflict, including the Houthis, the Yemeni government, and the Southern Transitional Council, of obstructing aid and access to information, and failing to take adequate preventive measures to mitigate the spread of cholera. In a report, the organization stated that data collected by agencies between January and July showed approximately 95,000 suspected cholera cases, resulting in at least 258 deaths.

Yemeni Government Launches Starlink Internet Service to End Telecommunications Monopoly

The internationally recognized Yemeni government has approved the launch of the Starlink satellite internet service in Yemen, marking the first step to end the telecommunications companies' monopoly on internet services. According to the Saba news agency, this move will provide high-quality internet at competitive prices for all categories and allow users to avoid censorship, particularly given the Houthis' control over the internet and their use of it in the war.

Yemeni Government Forms Ministerial Committee to Support Army Needs

The Yemeni government has established a ministerial committee to create an executive matrix to meet the needs of the army. The committee comprises the ministries of defense, finance, oil and minerals, public health and population, endowments and guidance, information, local administration, civil service, water and environment, and the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers. The official news agency reported that the Presidential Leadership Council has directed the government to address the circumstances of military personnel and provide for the needs of the front lines in the battle to end the coup and restore the state.

Yemeni Government Criticizes Houthis' Pomegranate Export Ban

The Yemeni government has condemned the Houthis' ban on exporting pomegranates to other provinces, describing it as part of their policies of impoverishment and starvation against Yemenis. Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Muammar Al-Eryani, stated that the ban has caused significant losses for farmers and exporters due to the surplus. He noted that Sa’dah province ranks first in pomegranate cultivation among Yemeni provinces, with two million pomegranate trees and a cultivated area of 1,618 hectares, producing around 100,000 tons according to the 2019 Agricultural Statistics Book.
