The Yemeni Armed Forces have revealed the use of advanced, specialized weapons in military operations against the Houthis as part of the ongoing Operation “Dawn of Yemen,” marking a significant development in the military capabilities being deployed across multiple battlefronts.

In its latest statement, the Yemeni military announced that its forces had carried out 1,729 new precision targeting operations, striking Houthi observation posts, forward command-and-control centers, weapons depots, supply and reinforcement points, and other military positions.

The statement confirmed that the operations involved advanced weapons systems but did not disclose their types, technical specifications, or operational capabilities, raising questions about the new military assets being introduced into the battlefield.

According to the military, the latest operations resulted in the neutralization of 1,370 Houthi fighters and the destruction or disabling of 300 military vehicles, equipment units, and other assets, in addition to military positions and facilities.

Background: Cumulative Military Operations

In its previous operational update, the Yemeni Armed Forces announced 2,103 precision targeting operations, reporting the neutralization of 1,860 Houthi fighters and the destruction of hundreds of military assets and positions.

Combining the latest figures with previously announced operational statistics brings the total number of targeting operations conducted since the launch of Operation “Dawn of Yemen” to 4,954, with 4,977 Houthi fighters reportedly neutralized, assuming the military statements cover separate, non-overlapping reporting periods.

Including operations conducted before the launch of “Dawn of Yemen,” the cumulative number of targeting operations announced by the Yemeni military reaches 7,679.

Military Significance of the New Weapons

The military's announcement of advanced weapons represents one of the most notable developments in the ongoing campaign, particularly as targeting operations increasingly focus on forward command-and-control facilities, military supply networks, reinforcement routes, and operational positions.

The statement, however, did not specify whether these weapons were being deployed for the first time or provide details about their origin and technical capabilities.

The disclosure suggests a potential expansion in the range and sophistication of weapons employed by government forces, although the extent of their operational impact remains unclear.

Beyond the rising number of precision strikes, the introduction of advanced weapons has emerged as a key development worth monitoring, particularly in assessing how new military capabilities could influence the pace, effectiveness, and direction of Operation “Dawn of Yemen”.
