Missiles From Yemen Fired Into Gulf of Aden, No Damage Reported

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the Iranian-backed Houthis fired one anti-ship ballistic missile from Yemen into the Gulf of Aden, but it caused no damage to any vessels. "The missile did not impact any vessels and there were no injuries or damage reported," CENTCOM added in a statement early on Thursday. "United States Central Command then successfully engaged and destroyed four unmanned aerial systems (UAVs) and one surface-to-air missile in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen, it said, adding "it was determined these weapons presented an imminent threat to merchant vessels and US Navy ships in the region."

Yemen's Houthi group on Thursday said it will not stop its attacks in the Red Sea until Israel ends its war on Gaza, lifts the siege and allows the entry of humanitarian aid to all parts of the Palestinian enclave. "We reaffirm that Yemen's position remains steadfast alongside Gaza until the cessation of the Israeli aggression, the lifting of the blockade, and the entry of aid to all parts of the strip," the group's spokesperson, Mohammed Abdul Salam, said on X. "Yemen will not abandon this position and considers it a religious, moral, and humanitarian responsibility," he added. In a joint statement on Wednesday, the embassies of the US, UK, Australia, Canada, Japan, and New Zealand called on the Houthis to stop their attacks, saying that they only lead to "destabilizing the region and harming the Yemeni people."

Saudi Ambassador to the Republic of Yemen and Supervisor General of the Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction of Yemen (SPDRY) Mohammed bin Saeed Al Jaber met in Riyadh with the European Union (EU) member countries' ambassadors to the Kingdom. During the meeting, they reviewed the Kingdom's political, economic, development, and humanitarian efforts to support Yemen and ongoing efforts to support the ceasefire. They discussed supporting the efforts of the United Nations (UN) special envoy for Yemen to reach a comprehensive and lasting political solution in Yemen.

The UN envoy to Yemen has expressed the United Nations' gratitude for the Sultanate of Oman's role and support in achieving lasting peace and stability in the Republic of Yemen and the establishment of strong, peaceful relations between it and all of its neighbors. Hans Grundberg, the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, met with Ambassador Dr. Muhammad bin Awad Al Hassan, the Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations, in New York, within the framework of submitting his periodic report to the United Nations on developments in the situation in the sisterly Republic of Yemen. Yemen is scheduled to present to members of the Security Council developments in the situation in the Republic of Yemen.
