Presidium of the Hadhramout National Council Declared

 

The founding body of the Hadhramout National Council said in a press conference held in Riyadh that it had finished "preparing drafts, projects and all documents and literature for the Council, including the statute, organizational structure and internal regulations of the Hadhramaut National Council." The Council indicated that a presidium of the Hadhramaut National Council consists of (23) members representing the Hadrami community, noting that it was agreed to form a supreme body for the Council that includes (351) members from across the Hadrami spectrum. In June this year, the Hadramout National Council was announced as a political and societal bearer of the demands of the people of Hadramout province, rejecting the efforts of the UAE-backed separatists to control Hadramout by force of arms.

 

European Union ambassadors reiterated their support for Yemen's Presidential Leadership and the Yemeni government for their continued engagement with the ongoing peace efforts.They also commended the government's measures aimed at raising revenue and stabilizing the economy and its efforts to implement reforms and improve service delivery under challenging circumstances in a very complex regional context. The E.U. diplomats also had useful exchanges with the business community in Aden, hearing about the steep challenges they face and reiterating support for the private sector's key role in building a prosperous and stable Yemen. E.U. Ambassador to Yemen Gabriel Munuera Viñals, Ambassador of France Catherine Corm-Kammoun, Ambassador of Germany Hubert Jäger, and Ambassador of the Netherlands Jeannette Seppen concluded a joint visit to Aden today.

 

On Tuesday, the U.S. Ambassador to Yemen, Steven H. Fagin, said that he discussed security cooperation between the two countries with Yemeni Defense Minister Major General Mohsen Al-Daeri. The U.S. Embassy in Yemen stated that Fagin and Al-Daeri discussed regional developments, bilateral security cooperation, and the peace process in Yemen. On Monday, the U.S. Central Command announced the launch of two ballistic missiles from areas controlled by the Houthis in Yemen towards an American naval destroyer in the Gulf of Aden. The Yemeni government this week called on the U.S. to reclassify the Houthis as a terror group.

 

The Biden administration has told Israel that it must work to avoid "significant further displacement" of Palestinian civilians in Southern Gaza if it renews its ground campaign, senior U.S. officials said. The administration underscored to the Israelis that they must operate with far greater precision in southern Gaza than they did in the north, the officials said, briefing reporters on condition of anonymity. The White House has begun to put greater pressure on Israel that the manner of the coming campaign must be "carefully thought through," according to one of the officials. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has made clear that Israeli Defense Forces will eventually restart military operations after the conclusion of the current ceasefire.
