Houthis Target Riyadh and Aden with Missiles as Coalition Tracks Launch Platforms in Sana’a
The Houthis have escalated their missile attacks, targeting Saudi Arabia and the Yemeni capital Aden in a wave of ballistic missile launches, while the Saudi-led Coalition announced the interception of missiles fired toward Riyadh and Khamis Mushait and said it was tracking a launch platform in Sana’a ahead of its destruction.
The Coalition said it intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile north of Riyadh launched by the Houthis. It also announced the interception and destruction of another ballistic missile fired toward Khamis Mushait.
In a related development, the Coalition said its intelligence systems were tracking a missile launch platform in Sana’a, adding that the platform would be destroyed.
The Coalition identified Sana’a, Saada and Amran as the sources of Houthi missile threats, as surveillance and operations against missile launch sites continue.
Ballistic Missiles Target Aden International Airport
Amid the attacks targeting Saudi Arabia, the local authority in Aden said Aden International Airport was targeted early Wednesday by ballistic missiles launched by the Houthis.
The local authority said the attack targeted a vital civilian facility in the capital, stressing that security agencies in Aden remain on the highest level of alert and that the security situation is stable and under control.
The statement underscored the importance of Aden International Airport as a civilian gateway serving Yemenis from across the country, particularly patients traveling abroad for medical treatment, as well as students, workers and other travelers.
The local authority said attacks on civilian facilities would not disrupt institutional or security operations in Aden. It added that cooperation would continue with state institutions and national, security and military forces to restore state institutions and authority and eliminate the Houthi threat.
Escalation Coincides with Operation “Dawn of Yemen”
The missile escalation comes as Operation “Dawn of Yemen” continues, following its launch by the Yemeni government to restore state institutions and retake areas under Houthi control.
Since the operation began, government forces have made advances on several fronts, most notably in Marib, Al-Jawf and the Bab al-Mandab area, as military and air operations continue across multiple fronts.
The ballistic missile attacks targeting Saudi Arabia and Aden, coupled with the Coalition’s tracking of launch platforms in Sana’a, have placed Houthi missile capabilities and their launch infrastructure at the forefront of the ongoing military confrontation.
