Houthi calls for Egyptian mediation coincide with mounting military pressure and government advances in Al-Jawf province.

The Saudi-led coalition supporting Yemen’s internationally recognised government announced on Sunday that it had carried out a precision military operation targeting vital resources allegedly used by the Houthis to sustain their war effort and develop ballistic missile and drone capabilities.

The announcement came as Yemen’s Foreign Minister warned of growing Houthi links with terrorist groups in the Horn of Africa, while government forces reported further territorial gains in the northern province of Al-Jawf.

In a statement issued on November 1, coalition spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Maliki said the operation had been conducted earlier that morning to neutralise resources used by the Houthis to launch repeated attacks and threaten the security of Saudi Arabia, Yemen and maritime shipping lanes in the southern Red Sea.

Al-Maliki accused the Houthis of systematically exploiting vital resources to strengthen their military capabilities, particularly their ballistic missile and unmanned aerial vehicle programmes.

He said the coalition would continue taking necessary military measures to prevent the group from using such resources to support its war effort.

The statement did not disclose the nature or locations of the targeted resources or provide details about the operation's results. It warned the Houthis against continuing attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure.

Foreign Minister Warns of a Threat Extending Beyond Yemen

In an exclusive interview with Al Arabiya English, Yemen’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Afrah Al-Zouba, warned that the Houthi threat was evolving beyond Yemen’s borders, arguing that the group's conduct was no less dangerous than that of ISIS or Al-Qaeda and could be even more severe.

According to excerpts released from the interview, Al-Zouba said the Houthis were using artificial intelligence, developing missiles and drones, and establishing relationships with terrorist organisations in the Horn of Africa, including providing training to their members.

She warned that Houthi activities increasingly threatened international economic interests, regional stability and global peace and security.

The minister also revealed that the Yemeni government was holding discussions with the United States, the European Union and regional partners over the growing threat posed by the group.

Her remarks come amid mounting concerns about cross-border arms-smuggling networks and militant cooperation across the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden and the Horn of Africa.

Houthis Raise Egyptian Mediation as Military Pressure Intensifies

Amid the continuing military campaign, Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti, a member of the Houthi political bureau, expressed the group's willingness to accept Egyptian mediation to end the war and participate in direct negotiations hosted by Cairo.

In an interview with the Egyptian newspaper Egypt Telegraph, Al-Bukhaiti welcomed Al-Azhar's peace initiative and described peace with Saudi Arabia as a strategic option, while confirming that communication channels with Riyadh remained open.

The statements come as the Houthis face increasing military pressure under Operation Dawn of Yemen, raising questions about the timing of the group's renewed diplomatic overtures and their relationship to developments on the battlefield.

Throughout Yemen's conflict, periods of military escalation have repeatedly coincided with renewed calls for negotiations. However, the latest statements alone do not establish whether the Houthis are using peace proposals as a tactical manoeuvre to ease military pressure or reorganise their forces.

It also remains unclear whether the latest proposal reflects an official Egyptian initiative or preliminary contacts that could lead to formal negotiations.

Government Forces Capture Strategic Mountain Positions in Al-Jawf

On the battlefield, Yemeni government forces announced that they had secured control of the Huwaishiyan mountain range east of Al-Hazm, the capital of Al-Jawf province, following clashes with Houthi fighters as part of Operation Dawn of Yemen.

The First Division of the Emergency Forces, operating alongside local tribal fighters, said the operation resulted in the capture of several Houthi personnel and the seizure of weapons and military equipment.

The Huwaishiyan heights are strategically significant because they overlook key roads and surrounding areas east of Al-Hazm.

Field reports also indicated that government forces were continuing their advance towards nearby elevated positions in the direction of the provincial capital.

The reported gains coincide with the beginning of the second month of Operation Dawn of Yemen, as fighting continues across Taiz, Lahj and Al-Jawf, alongside coalition air operations targeting Houthi military capabilities.
