Houthis Target Displaced Camp in Marib in Line With Arrival of UN Official

The Ansar Allah (Houthi) group targeted Thursday the Sa'ila al-Mail camp for displaced people north of Marib with a rocket projectile, causing material damage. No casualty was reported, local sources in Marib said.

The attack happened in line with the arrival of the UN Envoy's military adviser, Brigadier General Antony Hayward, in Marib.

On Thursday, Hayward met with Sultan Al-Arada, a member of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council and Marib governor, in Marib City, and they discussed peace efforts to establish a permanent ceasefire in Yemen.

Al-Arada said he is ready to open Marib-Sanaa and Marib-Al-Bayda roads within 48 hours if the Houthi group agrees to do the same under the sponsorship of the UN.

Al-Arada accused the Houthi group of obstructing all international efforts to find peace in Yemen despite the government's significant concessions to make those efforts successful.

Since the breakout of the war in 2015, UN organizations estimate that around one million people have fled to Marib, but Yemeni government authorities say the number is about two million displaced people.
