Nasserist Party: Saudi-Houthi Negotiations Without Government ThreatensYemen's Sovereignty

 The Nasserist Unionist People's Party said Thursday that the continuing negotiations between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis without the Yemeni government will lead to agreements that threaten Yemen's sovereignty and affect the rights of Yemenis.

The Party called on the partners of the political process in Yemen not to respond to any regional or international pressure that aims to belittle the country's unity and sovereignty or affect the independence of Yemeni political and economic decision-making.

The statement condemned the continuity of war and the foreign military intervention that has destroyed Yemen, indicating that the conflicting agenda of the Arab coalition countries and the Yemeni government's mismanagement of the crisis have made Yemen "a failed and fragmented state" plagued by sectarian, ethnic, and regional strife.

The Party stated that the Presidential Leadership Council has failed to unite the political powers in the country, and it has not addressed the imbalances in the state institutions.

According to the Party, overcoming this crisis is possible in two ways. First, there is a need to eliminate the conflicts between the government components to establish an attractive model for a state capable of removing the causes of the crisis.

The second way is that the political leadership requires popular support from all civil and societal forces in Yemen to create national awareness to reject the continuation of the war and resist militia behavior that is based on racial, sectarian, and regional discrimination.

On Thursday, the Presidential Leadership Council held a meeting and reviewed visions "to strengthen the unity of ranks and to respond effectively to developments in the local situation, including developments in the mediation led by Saudi Arabia and Oman, to renew the truce, and launch a comprehensive political process under the auspices of the United Nations."
