Southern Giants Forces Intercept Weapons Manufacturing Shipment Bound for Houthis in Bab al-Mandab

    Southern Giants Forces announced on Tuesday that they had intercepted a smuggling boat in the Bab al-Mandab Strait carrying specialized materials and equipment allegedly intended for Houthi-controlled areas in western Yemen. According to the forces, the shipment contained components used in weapons manufacturing and was being transported toward Hodeidah Governorate.

The interception was carried out by Southern Giants naval patrols operating in the Bab al-Mandab sector following what the forces described as an intelligence-led maritime surveillance operation. The vessel was seized, and its crew was arrested for questioning.

Military officials said the cargo is currently undergoing technical examination and documentation, with the full list of seized materials expected to be released after investigative and legal procedures are completed.

The interception comes amid increasing efforts by Yemeni forces to disrupt maritime smuggling routes supplying the Houthis. It also follows a series of reported seizures of weapons, military equipment, and dual-use components along Yemen’s Red Sea coastline over recent months.
