The commander of the Security Belt Forces in the Shukra area of Abyan province in South Yemen was killed Wednesday in an explosion of an improvised explosive device that targeted a military vehicle in the Mudiya district, east of the governorate. A security source said that Major Salem Sal'an, the commander of the Security Belt Forces in the Shukra area, was killed, and at least seven soldiers accompanying him were injured. According to the source, the commander was participating in a security campaign against Al-Qaeda operatives in the Mudiya district when the explosion occurred.

 

On Wednesday, Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaidi and UN Special Envoy to Yemen Hans Grundberg discussed developments in the Yemeni arena. The Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on the X platform that his meeting with the UN envoy addressed efforts to reach a comprehensive peaceful solution that serves the interests of the Yemeni people and the security and stability of the region. The visit of the UN envoy to the Sultanate of Oman follows his visit to the State of Qatar, during which he met with Qatari officials to discuss the importance of enhancing regional and international support for UN mediation efforts in Yemen.

 

A leader in the Houthi group stated on Tuesday evening that dozens of armed individuals, supported by armed women, stormed his home in Sanaa, northern Yemen. Abdulrahman Al-Jarmouzi, a Houthi-affiliated poet, posted on his Facebook page that "a force from the militia, armed with multiple vehicles and carrying dozens of masked individuals and female Houthi fighters, invaded his home in Sanaa." The Houthi-controlled judiciary had assigned Houthi security and intelligence agencies more than a month ago to arrest Al-Jarmouzi on charges of contempt for the judiciary.

 

On Wednesday, confrontations renewed between pro-government forces and the Houthi group on several fronts in Taiz Governorate, southwest of the country. A military source in Taiz said that violent clashes renewed between army forces and the Houthis on the Dhabab fronts west of the city of Taiz. According to the source, government forces responded to a Houthi infiltration attempt on the Kulaba area and the eastern front of Taiz City. Houthis have been trying to gain control over more territories in Taiz. However, they have been facing heavy resistance.
