The Public Prosecution and the forensic department in the Public Prosecutor’s Office in the Ansar Allah (Houthi) group-controlled Al-Hudydah buried 24 unidentified bodies in cooperation with the International Red Cross and the General Department of Criminal Evidence, Houthi-run media reported yesterday.
Officials in Al-Hudaydah said the burial process comes within the framework of the Public Prosecution’s duties regarding cases of unidentified bodies that are found dead and the authorities cannot reach their families.
The burial took place after completing all legal procedures related to these bodies, which had remained in hospital morgues for years.
Authorities in North Yemen have repeatedly buried hundreds of unidentified bodies over the past few years. Sheba Intelligence presents the number of unrecognizable bodies buried in 2020, 2022, 2023, and March 2024.
