On Saturday, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) stated that thousands of Yemenis have become disabled due to the ongoing conflict, and over two million children cannot attend school. Thousands of individuals have become disabled due to explosions, landmines, or gunshot wounds since the conflict began eight years ago. Education in Yemen has severely deteriorated because of armed conflicts and violence. Around 20% of primary and secondary schools are closed, leaving over two million children without access to education, according to ICRC.

 

Activists on social media launched a campaign against the sale of Aden Net to NX, an Emirati telecommunications company, demanding the cancellation of the deal. They said such an agreement is a threat to information security and subscriber data. They called for removing the Yemeni officials who agreed to the deal. The activists called for political forces and government members to take a clear stance and for legal action against Prime Minister Maeen Abdulmalik. A parliamentary report has recently accused the Yemeni government of corruption in different sectors, including electricity, oil, and telecommunications.

 

Today, Saturday, the security forces in Aden moved groups of African migrants from the neighborhoods of the Crater district towards the Sheikh Othman district, fearing the resumption of ethnic clashes between Ethiopian migrants. This came after a deadly clash on Friday, which left three dead and 13 others injured. Security authorities in Aden said the conflict between the migrants caused losses to public and private properties. Thousands of African migrants arrive in Yemen every year, seeking to cross to Saudi Arabia, where they can find employment.

 

The US Justice Department said on Friday that it had disrupted a multi-million-dollar shipment of crude oil sent by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran and had seized over 980,000 barrels of the oil. Greek shipping company Empire Navigation, whose tanker Suez Rajan carried the oil, had admitted to smuggling the cargo and is due to pay a $2.4m fine, facing three years' probation. The IRGC and Quds Force attempted to disguise the vessel's origin using ship-to-ship transfers, a false identification system report, and falsified documents. The IRGC and Quds Force are designated as foreign terrorist organizations by the US.

 

Saudi Arabia and the US have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at creating intercontinental green transit corridors that would connect Asia with Europe, according to a joint statement. The project aims to facilitate the transit of renewable electricity and clean hydrogen via transmission cables and pipelines and constructing rail links. Besides, it intends to enhance energy security and support efforts to develop clean energy.
