Unit 400 Members Handed Houthis Sensitive Data on Officers and Thousands of Sources

  Members of Unit 400, the National Resistance’s intelligence arm, have handed the Houthis sensitive information identifying personnel and thousands of informants, a source told Sheba Intelligence, raising fears of reprisals and arrests.

The unit is led by Ammar Saleh, the brother of National Resistance commander Tariq Saleh.

According to the source, some unit members joined the Houthis and accompanied the group’s forces on raids targeting the homes of colleagues and confidential informants, including wounded individuals, in areas of Yemen’s western coast recently seized by the Houthis.

It remains unclear whether those members had previously maintained contact with the group or joined under pressure from circumstances following the change in territorial control.

The source said the material included lists identifying intelligence sources working for the unit in Houthi-controlled territory. If confirmed, the disclosure could compromise its networks and enable the group to track down those named.

The source warned that the consequences could extend beyond the western coast, potentially exposing officers and informants in both Houthi- and government-controlled areas by revealing their identities and intelligence connections.

Sheba Intelligence could not independently verify the account or review the purported lists. The extent of the information allegedly handed over, the number of people targeted in the raids and whether any arrests were made remain unclear.
