Yemen Calls for an End to Israeli Repeated Attacks on Palestinians

 

Yemen has called for an end to the provocations by Israeli forces and their repeated attacks on the Palestinian people and their holy sites. In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Yemen affirmed that it is closely following the developments and escalations in the occupied Palestinian territories and called for the protection of civilians. The statement also reaffirmed Yemen's steadfast stance and commitment to achieving the aspirations of the Palestinian people for a dignified life, establishing their independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant international resolutions and legislation.

 

In a meeting held on Saturday in the U.S. capital, Washington, Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Saghir bin Aziz said the international community plays a key role in countering Houthi terrorist threats and blatant Iranian interference in Yemen, according to the state-run Saba News Agency. In a meeting with the U.S. Special Envoy for Yemen, Tim Lenderking, bin Aziz expressed his support for "the efforts of the U.S. envoy and all positive endeavors aimed at alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people and achieving their aspirations in reclaiming state institutions and ending the Houthi coup." He also praised the outstanding bilateral relations between the Republic of Yemen and the United States and the U.S.'s supportive stance for constitutional legitimacy on various international fronts.

 

Dozens of Hamas fighters broke out of the blockaded Gaza Strip and into nearby Israeli towns, killing dozens and abducting others in an unprecedented surprise early morning attack on Saturday. Israel said it is now at war with Hamas and launched airstrikes in Gaza, vowing to inflict an "unprecedented price." Israeli authorities said at least 200 people were killed and 1,100 wounded, making it the deadliest attack in Israel in decades. At least 198 people in the Gaza Strip have been killed. Hamas gunmen reached as many as 22 locations outside the Gaza Strip, including towns and other communities as far as 15 miles (24 kilometers) from the Gaza border. Previous conflicts between Israel and Gaza's Hamas rulers brought widespread death and destruction in Gaza and days of rocket fire on Israeli towns.

 

The Arab Council is hosting an international conference titled "Democratic Transition in the Arab World - Roadmap" from October 7th to 8th, 2023, in Sarajevo in the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The conference's proceedings, attended by a distinguished group of Arab intellectuals, political activists, journalists, and legal experts, are inaugurated by President Moncef Marzouki, the President of the Arab Council, along with Tawakkol Karman, Nobel Peace Prize laureate, and Ayman Nour, President of the Tomorrow Party.
