Yemen Government: The Demands of Yemenia Airways Should Be Fulfilled

 

The Yemeni government expressed support for the efforts of Yemen Airways in restoring its flights from Sanaa Airport to the Jordanian capital, Amman, and expanding its services to additional destinations from Sanaa Airport. This comes as part of the government's commitment to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people in areas under Houthi control, reported the state-run Saba News Agency reported on Monday. According to the agency, the government said all the company’s demands should be met, and it should operate without any interference from the Houthi group. Yemenia Airways suspended its flights from Sanaa Airport on October 1, and it said the Houthi authorities refused to release the money it has in Sanaa-based banks.

 

Arab League foreign ministers will meet Wednesday to discuss “Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip” following a surprise assault by Hamas on Israel, the regional bloc announced. The meeting in Cairo will seek to find “avenues of political action at the Arab and international level,” as Israel keeps pounding targets in Gaza following Saturday’s attack, Arab League deputy chief Hossam Zaki said in a statement.

 

Abda Sharif, the British Ambassador to Yemen, commended the ongoing talks between Saudi Arabia and the Houthi group in Yemen, describing them as a unique opportunity to make progress in the country's peace process. This came during her meeting in Riyadh with the Saudi Ambassador to Yemen, Mohammed Al-Jaber. Sharif said on her account platform X, "I thanked the Saudi Ambassador, Mohammed Al-Jaber, for his efforts and the efforts of the Kingdom." She added that the United Kingdom is committed to conflict resolution s under the auspices of the United Nations.

 

The European Commission announced today, Monday, that it will put all development assistance to Palestinians, totaling approximately $730 million, under review and suspend all payments immediately after the escalation between Hamas and Israel. Oliver Varhelyi, the European Union's Commissioner for Expansion, stated in a post on platform X that all the new budget proposals for Palestinian assistance have been postponed until further notice. According to Reuters, Austria had announced that it would suspend aid worth tens of millions of euros to the Palestinians in response to the attack on Israel.

 

Local sources said the the Southern Transitional Council (STC) fighters have initiated a campaign to demolish the homes of some citizens in the Socotra Archipelago. According to the sources, the campaign is being carried out under the pretext of constructing a promenade called "Mohammed bin Zayed." The demolition operation took place in Hadibo, the capital of Socotra, under the directives of Raafat Al-Thaqali, the head of the STC in the archipelago, who also serves as the province's governor.
