Intelligence sources told Sheba Intelligence on Tuesday that Yemeni security authorities arrested ten members belonging to the terrorist organization ISIS, who were planning to kidnap American and British officers and soldiers in the provinces of Hadramout and Al-Mahra to the east of Yemen.

The source did not rule out the terrorist plan's connection to the Red Sea escalation, saying, "It appears that the Houthi attacks in the Red Sea have encouraged terrorist groups to carry out operations against American and British forces."

An official source at the Ministry of Interior said that the security services in Al-Mahra Governorate were successfully able to arrest ten members belonging to a terrorist group who were assigned to kidnap foreigners and were distributed and hidden in various places in the province.

He pointed out that the tracking and monitoring process was a qualitative and complex operation that continued for months until all members of the terrorist cell were arrested on Sunday, February 25, 2024.

The Interior Ministry revealed that the security units used force in the process of arresting the terrorist cell members after the latter opened fire on the security men, who were able to clamp down on all the terrorists and force them to surrender.

Al-Qaeda and ISIS operatives still have a presence in southern provinces as such terrorist groups have taken advantage of the country's civil war and internal fighting in South Yemen.
