Background: Operation Dawn of Yemen
Operation Dawn of Yemen was announced on October 4, 2026, by Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad Al-Alimi as part of a broader military campaign aimed at restoring government control over territory held by the Houthis.
Since the launch of the offensive, Yemeni government forces, supported by coalition air operations, have reported sustained strikes against Houthi command structures, military positions, reinforcements and supply networks.
The campaign has involved several fronts, including Taiz, Marib, Al-Jawf, Al-Bayda and the western coastal approaches to Bab al-Mandab.
