Military sources in the Yemeni government told Sheba Intelligence that the Houthi group, with the support of Iranian experts, is planning to launch a major offensive on Marib to take over the most important oil and gas production fields in Safer.

According to the military sources, the Houthis are arranging their forces from three directions, surrounding Marib: Nihm district, which overlooks from the west, Al-Jadida area to the south of Marib, and Baraqish of Al-Jawf to the north of Marib.

The sources confirmed that the operations center is Al-Bayda province, where the commander, Faisal Al-Qaoud, is present. Al-Qaoud is responsible for planning the operations along with foreign experts.

Meanwhile, Sheba Intelligence monitored the launch of 32 Houthi missiles from seven centers, namely, Hajjah, Saada, and Amran in the north, Al-Hudaydah in the west, Al-Jawf in the east, and Sanaa and Dhamar in the center of the country, as part of the so-called war on Israel.

The military expert suggested that the launch of these missiles was a cover for the Houthi internal military movements and the transfer of weapons in preparation for the return of the war in Yemen.

The expert explained to Sheba Intelligence that the Houthis are exploiting the firing of missiles at Israel to gain the people’s sympathy. He said, “They realize that the missiles may not reach Israel or affect the war in Gaza. But they are arranging their priorities towards getting their hands on the most important sources of money in Yemen, oil and gas, and therefore their military movements are linked to their plan of attacking Marib.”

Since 2015, the Houthi group has launched multiple attacks on Marib, attempting to take over the provincial capital. However, they failed repeatedly, and their battle for Marib City remains high on their agenda.
