Saudi Forces and Houthi Fighters Clash in Aldood Mountain

Fierce clashes between Saudi forces and the Ansar Allah (Houthi) group broke out Tuesday in Aldood mountain, which is adjacent to Saudi Gazan province, Saudi sources said. 

Sulaiman Aldoosari, a popular Saudi social media activist who focuses on military affairs, said on platform X that Aldood Mountain is a red line, adding, "I hope the (Houthis) would understand the lesson they had received."

The number of deaths and injuries from both sides remains unclear. 

On October 17, Sheba Intelligence published a report and a video showing the Houthi missile launch centers in Yemen and predicted attacks on the Saudi border. Aldood Mountain is about 1.70 km (1700 m) away from the Al-Malahidh area, which has witnessed unprecedented movement of Houthi forces. The report pointed out that the group has an operations room with foreign experts to launch cross-border attacks.

Last month, a Houthi drone strike hit a location in a Saudi border area, killing four Bahraini soldiers. The killing of the Bahraini soldiers drew regional and international condemnation and set back the momentum of peace talks under the auspices of Oman and the United Nations.

These cross-border attacks occur despite the ongoing Houthi-Saudi peace talks, and such escalation risks plunging Yemen into a new cycle of violence.
