A photo circulated by the Yemeni press revealed that the Ansar Allah (Houthi) group had obtained advanced and high-quality Iranian weapons.

A military expert told Sheba Intelligence, “The photo that the Yemeni press described as drones shot down by the air defenses of the 2nd Brigade in Muris of Al-Dhale province to the south of Yemen is not a drone, but an air-to-surface missile that matches the Iranian missile (AKHGAR), which means (spark of embers) in Arabic.”

The military expert described the Houthis’ possession of this type of missile as a qualitative development that enhances their air military capabilities, as this missile can be launched from drones and can hit air targets such as planes and drones or ground targets or sea targets such as ports and ships.

According to the expert, the group can use such a weapon in its battle with the multinational forces in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, particularly the American and British forces.
